Phone numbers - are we all becoming a number?

There are something like 6 billion people in the world, and I've heard that around half of them now own a mobile phone. Add to that the number of land line numbers, then there must be one contact number for every person on planet earth.

I think pretty soon we will become numbers. You won't get Christened at birth, you'll be allocated the next sequentially selected number which will be your phone number, social security number and everything etc.

Maybe that's what I was thinking when I started allnumbers.com a few years back. I wanted to create a place where people could optin to have their number recorded, so other people could contact them.

Why not add your details, or see if any of your friends, or celebrities have added their details. Check out allnumbers.com for free cell and mobile phone number lookup service.

Let me know how you get on.

Maybe in the future we won't even need communication devices. Maybe we'll just think of the person we want to talk to and our minds will automatically connect. Sites like mine...

finding mobile phone numbers and SIM backup will become redundant because you'll never lose your numbers if they're contained in your sub-concious.

More thoughts about this later.

You only have to watch Star Trek, and you'll see how way ahead of his time Gene Rodenberry was. Loads of stuff he predicted has come true, all we wait for now is the likes of Warp travel and transporting matter. Communication devices were still things held in the hand and spoken into, although Uhura (apologies if that's misspelt) did always have a thing sticking out of her ear. An ealy wirless headset do you think?
